Images of the sited Cairns
Four Cairns have been installed as way markers at Big Wood, Runcorn. Big Wood is an area of diverse woodland in an urban area which provides a safe haven for a variety of wildlife. The range of tree and shrub species include many non-native and exotic specimens such as Scots pine, hornbeam and cherry, and is home to owls, foxes, woodpeckers, buzzards and many more creatures that thrive in the woodland. A large planted pond at the centre of the wood is home to newts, toads and frogs.
We glide past these sculptures every weekend on our guided Segway Tours. They are a great addition to the woods and our only complaint is that there are not enough of them! Two more would be great. One at the top right (near the Ha-Ha) and one bottom left by the canal nearest to the smaller wooden bridge. Fantastic work.
